Cookies and browser storage
Effective date: 7 October 2026
Overview
Zuglive sets two cookies of its own and keeps a few entries in your browser's storage. None of them serves advertising or third-party analytics. When we checked on 7 October 2026, Google's consent service set no cookies.
Cookies
- NEXT_LOCALE: the language you chose. It lasts until you close the browser.
- theme: the appearance (light, dark or as in your system). It lasts one year.
Your browser sends both cookies to our server with every request, so the page appears in the right language and appearance straight away.
Browser storage
- treniamo-preferences: favorites, recent searches and settings.
- theme: the appearance you chose, once you change it.
- treniamo-geolocation: your last position, if you use “Find nearby stations”. It counts as current for one hour and then stays stored until it is overwritten or deleted.
- tn_visite: a number and a date counting on how many days you visited the website, without any identifier. The counter is meant for a hint about notifications that the German pages do not show at present.
- treniamo:chunk-reload:… (for the session only): remembers after a website update that the page has been reloaded once.
- Service worker: keeps files of the website in your browser's cache (caches named “treniamo-…”) so pages load faster and an offline page can appear without a connection.
These entries stay on your device; localStorage has no expiry date. Only when you look for nearby stations does your browser send the coordinates to our server (see the privacy notice).
Legal basis
Language, appearance, favorites, searches, location, the one-time reload and the cache serve features you use. We store and read them under § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG, the German law on privacy in digital services.
Changing and deleting
You can view, block and delete cookies and site data in your browser. Doing so removes settings, favorites and recent searches. Location permission is managed in your browser's site settings. Questions: [email protected].
